The alarming number of anti-trans bills highlight the party’s distaste for Liberty.

Racist right-wing media and bigoted Republicans are working hand-in-hand against America’s idea of Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness, hopeful of enshrining new discriminatory laws alongside their eagerly introduced white-robed “election reforms.” The last few months have seen anti-freedom politicians ratchet up their rhetoric against one of our country’s most vulnerable groups of people with the hopes of exterminating them from public life.
The Republican Party has proposed more than 100 bills in the last few months, hellbent on discriminating against the existence of transgender adults and children in America. The bills would deny critical life-saving healthcare to trans Americans, criminalize a parent’s freedom to raise their children as they see fit, and ghoulishly allow adults to inspect a child’s genitalia. The party of Small Government detests losing control.
It’s a disgusting display of hatred and bigotry toward Americans for one depraved reason: Trans people simply exist. The spate of bills boiling up from the party’s long-held distaste for Liberty is causing indigestion, hurling into view barbaric, bile-bathed policies. The legislation exposes the party’s red plump authoritarian underbelly, too fat and bloated to scurry away from scrutiny.
“Come to America and experience True FREEDOM!” They preached!
“But don’t do that,” They instructed!
“Or that,” They ordered!
“And certainly not that,” They demanded!
“Stop it—we’re warning you,” They threatened!
“We’ll just criminalize your very existence,” They rejoiced!
“Why are you so angry?” They cried!
“Why can’t you just get over it,” They commanded!
“Why are you protesting?” They argued!
“Why do you hate our Freedom?” They screamed!
“Why do you hate America?” They wondered!
Rinse and repeat; it’s the American Way!
Trans Americans strike terror in the hearts of freedom-fearing Republicans because it upends the GOP’s perceived patriarchal hierarchy, who are incapable of understanding a life different from their own. To Republicans, trans Americans upend the party’s ability to control American Life, living a life unbound from oppressive, toxic orthodoxies and twisted mythologies.

The bills show that the party will do anything to maintain power, even if it means criminalizing their fellow American’s life to motivate rabid, intolerant supporters to the ballot box. Why would Republicans attempt to introduce popular policies when they sit on a war chest of corporate donations and bigoted policies they can dispatch and package on a platter of fear during election time?
To the GOP, to be American is to be white, Christian, and heterosexual, and any deviation is an affront against America itself. But in reality, it’s their spitefulness and bigotry, wielded for centuries to deprive Liberty to countless Americans, that’s in direct contradiction to this country and its values.
To be an American is to be free and true to who you are without compromise in a free country. Or, that’s how it should be. There’s nothing more American than that, but the Republican Party can’t comprehend having that much Liberty afforded to their fellow Americans.
